The North Carolina Middle School Journal is a double-blind, peer-reviewed journal published by the North Carolina Association for Middle Level Education. The North Carolina Middle School Journal publishes manuscripts on all topics related to the education of young adolescent learners and effective leadership. The North Carolina Association for Middle Level Education Journal is published three times each year by the North Carolina Association for Middle Level Education in Fall, Spring, and Summer. NCMLE partners with the National Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform for nationwide distribution.
Published articles represent the views of the authors and do not necessarily represent the views of NCMLE. Educators are authorized to reproduce articles for non-commercial education use provided that full citation of the original source is included on all copies.

Reading our Journal is the best way to determine what we publish. Typically, submissions fall into one of the following categories:
Submissions range from 1500-3500+ words, however all submissions are considered. We will review longer submissions. Topics should be current, free of all errors, and solely submitted to NCMLE for consideration. The organization does not publish work that was previously published. We review single authors and teams of authors. If a submission is accepted for publication, yet not published within 18 months, rights are automatically returned to the original author(s). We do not typically publish literature reviews, research papers, or letters.
If you are interested in serving as a peer reviewer, please email a one-page letter of interest, resume, and Vitae to the Editor, Dr. James Davis, at email@example.com
Peer reviewers are typically sent 1-2 submissions to review every 3 months. Peer reviewers are expected to read the submission in its entirety and then answer the following questions in a clear, concise, professional manner:
